The Impact of prayer spaces on one family

BeSpace facilitated a prayer space at my son’s school not long after we lost our son Mark and it gave Jack the opportunity to connect to God in a safe space away from us, his grieving family, to express raw emotions to God. Jack still has the post it note he wrote that day in our prayer space at home.

Jack has autism and has neurodiverse conditions which make him extremely anxious; however he asked his school to hold a pray space weekly as he felt close to God and close to Mark at that time. I took inspiration and built from scratch a nurture room at the school to cater for all needs, introducing sensory aids and along with the books I had bought dealing with loss, and I then included books about broken families and poorly people.

I was as inclusive as possible in all culture and diversity to provide a safe space for time out or a little time for nurturing.

The work of BeSpace has in turn led to both my middle children leading their own journey of faith, which all started with being in a safe prayer and reflection space with BeSpace.
